"CRAZY ABOUT HOUNDS" PHOTO GALLERY Crazy about your hound? Want to share him with the world? Here's your chance! Send us a good-quality picture and a few sentences about your hound, and we'll add your special friend to our “Crazy About Hounds” page. Visit the photo gallery whenever you need a smile! Please e-mail your photos and text to our website manager. Photos should be in .jpg format. Files of about 1 MB will reproduce better than smaller files. Note: The lucky hounds below live in happy homes. They are not available for adoption. ____________________ Annie, formerly America (right), was featured in our Shelter Listings until she was adopted. "I named her Annie after Annie Lennox. Annie is a wonderful girl, sweet, loving, gives a thousand kisses a day. She has brought so much joy to our household—always wants to play and have fun! We think she's under a year old. She does still act like a 100-lb. puppy, but she's learing her doggy manners! Me, my son and our little Bichon named Sweetheart are thrilled that she's part of our family!" (Added 9/9/10)
Woody (left) came from Ohio 13 years ago when he was 2. He had been taken to the local shelter in Dayton, but they couldn't take him because they were full, and so he ended up coming to live in Massachusetts. Some years after he arrived, he was diagnosed with Cushings Disease and was on Lysodren for several years, coming off it last December. He's still going strong but has developed a complete dislike for dog food and will eat only people food. Woody was a calendar boy for BONES beagle rescue in 2010 and is an ambassador doing home visits for BONES so other beagles can find their forever homes. (Added 7/27/10)
"Lola (right) came into our lives in April 2010. She will be 7 years old this July and we just love her so much. She has fit into our family like she was always meant to be here. We do believe our Gracie-girl had a paw in helping us find each other." (Added 6/16/10)
"We rescued Gracie (left) or, should I say, she rescued us about 4 years ago. She was a very special girl. Gracie had to love you before she let you love her. She graced us with her love each and every day and brought us such joy. Gracie passed away right before her 8th birthday, and we miss her every single moment of the day. If only love were enough to keep you with us..." (Added 6/16/10)
"Max (right) started out as our foster dog and eventually we realized that he is 'home.' Max has separation anxiety and we have learned to work around it. I let him know where I am going each time I leave the room and he wears a belly band when we leave the house. Max will be 11 in July and is a handsome, loveable boy. He is truly a 'Mama's boy,' and where I go, he goes. We would never hesitate to adopt a senior hound—they have so much love to give!" (Added 6/16/10)
Daisy (left), originally a stray from Chicago, moved to Maine in 2006. She and her corgi pal Sara Lee loved being "country dogs"! Daisy passed away in 2011 at the grand old age of 17-1/2. She was a beloved and funny little character with her own "agenda" right up to her last days. (Updated 12/18/111)
Alfred's (right) family in Maine adopted him from a neighbor. They were experienced owners of herding and sporting dogs. Alfred is teaching them "the way of the hound." (Added 4/11/10)
Gilda the Wonder Beagle (left, at home in Virginia) "is about to turn 12 but still retains all the curiosity, appetite and energy of a puppy. Not that she has anything against naps, mind you." (Added 5/3/10)
Molly (right) is a basset mix rescued from the Humane Society in Milwaukee in January 2009. (Added 5/7/10)
